2018 Petite Sirah
The 2018 Petite Sirah is a wine full of gusto and explosive expression. An intriguing deep violet hue signals the signature potency of the varietal as immediate aromas of concentrated blackberries, plums and chocolate storm out of the glass. Layers of spice rise to the occasion, adding fragrance and complexity on the palate alongside boysenberries and olallieberries. The slow tannin build and balanced acidity coalesce with vanilla and rustic leather for a velvety and savory finish.
This vintage is sold out.
Winemaker Notes
Fruit sourced from Shell Creek Vineyard and our family-owned RBZ Vineyard, this Petite Sirah is a snapshot of the depth Paso Robles can produce in its wines. Dark, concentrated, small berries coming from each vineyard are fermented in stainless steel and aged for 18 months in a mix of French and American oak. We chose to blend in a little Syrah this year to restrain the massive natural tannin coming from the Petite Sirah,
and a single barrel of Zinfandel to add a hint of lighter fruit to the aroma.
