2020 Petite Sirah
Affectionally named “petite” for its small berries produced from tight clusters of fruit, the skin-to-pulp ratio make a concentrated and full-bodied wine. The inky violet hues of the 2020 Petite Sirah draws you in to further inspect. Aromas of Lavender, plum and spicy clove waft from the glass. You are invited to savor and enjoy a mouthful of blackberry, boysenberry and blueberry with soft briary notes. As you linger with this wine, you’ll find yourself enveloped in the supple tannin structure, lush savory finish.

Winemaker Notes
Petite Sirah is one of the fussier varietals we work with at Sextant. We keep a close eye on the vineyard during the ripening process because the window for picking can be tight, leaving little time between underripe grapes and raisins hanging on the vine. With a break from the heat during the second half of the growing season, we felt we could call the pick with perfect timing, and after fermentation, we lightly pressed this inky fruit into some of our heaviest toasted barrels in the winery. We hope you find this bold wine well balanced, with big tannin, fruit, and spice.
