2022 Estate Merlot
Remarkable depth with gliding smoothness typical of Sextant Wines Estate Merlot. Each swirl reveals a depth of layers as cherries, strawberries, and plums become apparent. Hints of pomegranates, tomato leaves, and sage join the profile. Fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity enable a sumptuous mouthfeel. Red currant, clay pot, and baking spice notes linger on the appetizing finish.

Winemaker Notes
Each year, our Estate Merlot from RBZ Vineyard is one of the very first reds to be harvested, so it’s fitting that it leads this lineup of Bordeaux varietals. All of the fruit is hand-picked from two small, select blocks at our estate vineyard in Templeton. Each lot is gently destemmed and fermented in stainless steel before extended aging in French oak. For this vintage, we chose to blend in a barrel of cabernet sauvignon from the estate to give it a little boost. Once a forgotten varietal, merlot is ready for a comeback!
