2022 Portolan Founder's Collection

An alluring convergence of red and white varietals, the Sextant Portolan showcases venerable syrah enhanced by a dollop of viognier. Thanks to a tradition started at the Côte-Rôtie appellation of the Northern Rhone, this mode of winemaking has also become customary in California, Australia, Chile, and beyond. The exquisite influence of viognier softens the muscular edges of syrah for smoothness and silkiness otherwise not achieved. Blackberries, cranberries, and black currants are lifted by exquisite notes of honeysuckle, peach blossoms, and roses. The wine finishes with nuance and complexity, lingering notes of cardamom, cigar box, and vanilla.
