Winemaker Notes
Following the solera method of fractional blending, our Genoa has evolved through some of the most unique cellar practices at Sextant. Each vintage, we cellar two barrels of this reserve wine for an additional year, allowing the intensity of this petite sirah-based blend to mellow with age. Hand-picked petite sirah, syrah, and zinfandel from our estate RBZ Vineyard are fermented in stainless steel and aged for 18 months. We then select our favorite barrels for the base, blend them with the two reserved barrels from the previous vintage, and set aside two barrels for extended aging before bottling.
